When to contact the authority

If you suspect that the health care was not provided properly or suppose that some other decision of medical workers related to the health care provision was not proper, you have the right to ask in the first instance the health care provider for the amendment (hospital or health centre director). The application should be  submitted in a written form.
If you are not satisfied with the activities of the insurance company you have  the right to ask in the first instance the head office of the insurance company for the amendment.

If the health care provider  or the head office of the insurance company do not comply with the application/ submission or do not inform the applicant about the execution of the application up to 30 days since the application/submission had been submitted, the claimant has the right to ask the branch of Authority or the head office of  Authority to perform the supervision.

In the case of the complain dealing with ethics and behaviour of health workers, you should ask the management of  health care provider in the first instance.

If you are not satisfied with the execusion of your application, you have the right to inform The Slovak Medical Chamber or the ethic commission of the Ministry of Health.

If your complain deals with other activities related to health care and the health care provider does not execute properly, it is possible to submit your application to the Ministry of Health or corresponding regional municipality.

All your complaints and suggestions should be submitted in the written form.

  • complaints relating to the activity of health insurance companies and public health insurance system,
  • applications for obtaining licenses for public health insurance,
  • premium redistribution agenda, annual accounts of health insurance
  • payment assessments concerning due payments,
  • imposing fines on premium payers and insured persons,
  • guidelines for health insurance companies, premium payers and insured persons,
  • imposing sanctions against health insurance companies,
  • health care within the European Union,
  • international reimbursements of health care costs,
  • cooperation with international organizations (Council of Europe, European Commission, WHO and others)
